It’s been far too long since my last loaf of banana bread but I had some overripe bananas in my fruit bowl so it was the perfect excuse to make some! I decided I wanted to be a bit extra and top it with a cream cheese icing and OMG it really does take it to the next level.
With just a few basic ingredients and straightforward instructions, this recipe is perfect for anyone to make! Whether you’re craving a cozy treat on a lazy Sunday afternoon or need a crowd-pleasing dessert for a get together, this recipe is sure to hit the spot!
Ingredients needed:
banana bread
- bananas
- egg
- almond milk
- coconut oil
- honey
- vanilla extract
- self raising flour
- cinnamon
- salt
cream cheese icing
- cream cheese
- greek yoghurt
- honey
- vanilla extract
How to make banana bread with cream cheese icing
- Preheat oven to 180ºc (fan forced) and line a loaf tin.
- In a bowl mash the bananas and add in egg, milk, coconut oil, honey, vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Mix in flour, cinnamon and salt.
- Place mixture into the lined loaf tin. If you’re adding extra banana on top, slice in half (long ways) and add on top of the mixture. Bake for 45-50 minutes (or until cooked)
- While the banana bread is cooking, add the cream cheese, greek yoghurt and sweetener into a food processor and blend until smooth. Leave in the fridge until the banana bread has cooked and cooled.
- Once cool, add the cream cheese icing on top along with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
- Slice up and enjoy!
Ingredient substitutions:
- Instead of ALMOND MILK: You can use any milk of your choice
- Instead of COCONUT OIL: You can use olive oil or butter
- Instead of HONEY: You can use any liquid sweetener of your choice
