This Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Icing is one of my favourite recipes I’ve ever made!! The cake is soft and moist, topped with the most delicious cream cheese icing…every bite tastes like perfection.
It is super easy to whip up and even more perfect if you have some sad looking bananas in your fruit bowl you need use for. This banana cake is guaranteed to be a favourite, so stop what your doing, preheat your oven and let’s get baking!
Ingredients needed:
- bananas
- eggs
- olive oil
- honey or liquid sweetener of choice
- almond milk or milk of choice
- vanilla extract
- plain flour
- baking powder
- cinnamon
Icing:
- cream cheese at room temp
- butter at room temp
- icing sugar
How to make Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Icing
- Preheat oven to 180°c and line an 8×8 baking pan.
- To a bowl add the mashed banana, eggs, oil, sweetener, vanilla, milk and mix.
- Add in the flour, cinnamon, baking powder and mix until combined. Transfer mixture into the lined baking pan.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked. Once cooked let cool completely.
- While the cake is baking add the cream cheese, butter and icing sugar to a food processor and blend until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled, spread the icing on top with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Slice into 9 pieces and enjoy!

- 2 bananas mashed
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup honey or liquid sweetener of choice
- 2/3 cup almond milk or milk of choice
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups plain flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp cinnamon
Icing
- 125 g cream cheese at room temp
- 60 g butter at room temp
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°c and line a 8×8 baking pan.
- To a bowl add the banana, eggs, sweetener, oil, milk, vanilla and mix. Add in the flour, cinnamon, baking powder and mix until combined.
- Transfer mixture to the lined tray and bake for 25-30 minutes or until cooked. Let cool completely.
- While the cake is cooking, add the cream cheese, butter and icing sugar to a food processor and blend until smooth. Leave in the fridge until the cake has cooled.
- Add the cream cheese icing on to the cake. Slice into 9 pieces. Enjoy!
