Coffee and banana bread are two of my favourite things ever, so it’s safe to say I’m obsessed with this Choc chip espresso banana bread. Next time you have some overripe bananas you need to give it a try!!
Banana bread truly is taken to the next level with the addition of some chocolate and a shot of coffee, I just know you are going to love it!
My absolute favourite way to enjoy banana bread is toasted with some butter! If you haven’t tried toasting your banana bread you’re seriously missing out!!
Ingredient list:
- Instant coffee
- Hot water
- Bananas
- Eggs
- Maple syrup
- Melted butter
- Almond milk
- Self raising flour
- Dark choc chips
ingredient substitutions:
- Instead of maple syrup: you can use any liquid sweetener of your choice
- Instead of melted butter: you can use melted coconut oil or olive oil
- Instead of almond milk: you can use any milk of your choice
- If needed you can use dairy free butter/chocolate
How to make espresso choc chip banana bread:
Preheat oven to 180°c (fan forced) and line a loaf tin.
Combine instant coffee with hot water and set aside to cool.
In a bowl mash banana. Add in eggs, maple syrup, butter, almond milk, coffee and combine. Mix in the flour and fold in chocolate chips.
Add mixture into the lined loaf tin, add extra banana slices on top and bake for 50-55 minutes or until cooked.
Let cool slice up and enjoy!

- 3 tsp instant coffee
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 2 bananas + an extra one for on top – optional
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°c (fan forced) and line a loaf tin.
